Introducing Ms. Paola

Hola a todos!

Hello Everyone!

My name is Paola Zurita, and I'm going to be the Spanish Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year.

I wanted to introduce myself a little. Here are some facts about me:

  • I was born and raised in Chile! My name is Paola, and I have two last birth lastnames: Zurita Valdebenito. My first last name (Zurita) is my father's family last name. My second last name (Valdebenito) comes from my mom's family. I typically just use Zurita as my last name!
  • I moved to the U.S in 2013 because I wanted to study abroad. While I was in school, I met my husband Tyler.
  • I live in Clarksville, TN, but my family and I lived in Indiana for the last six years.
  • I have a Bachelors degree in teaching English as a foreign language from Universidad de Tarapaca in Arica, Chile. I also have an M.A in TESOL and Spanish from University of Northern Iowa. I have taught ESL and Spanish all the way from preschool to college level. I love to teach!
  • My husband Tyler is an assistant professor at APSU. He was born in Columbus, IN and loves teaching, writing songs, and teaching. We have two kids, Isabella Jazmin (7) and Leo Jorge (5).
  • We all love being outdoors, travelling, singing, and making friends!
